Note: Territory Restrictions are only available to users on the Pay-Per-Release model or Unlimited Plan users on the Professional Level.
When you create a release in TuneCore, you will have the option on the "My Stores" page to make any territory/country restrictions for your release. Under "Countries & Regions" we ask: "Can this release be sold worldwide?" and the answer options are 'Yes' or 'No, I have some restrictions".
If you select "Yes", you can select the stores you wish to send your content to and your music will be sent to every territory they offer:
If you select "No, I have some restrictions", a pop-up window will appear asking for more information:
Choose which option best suits your needs:
- You can sell your music worldwide but need to make some country exclusions, or;
- You can sell your music in some countries but need to exclude the rest of the world.
For example, let's say you only have the rights to sell your music in Mexico, Japan, and Australia. You would go with the second option, "I can sell my music in some countries and need to exclude the rest of the world," and click Start here. At this point, you will type in the first country you have the rights for and it will be added to the list of countries you "can make this release available" in. Continue with this same process until all the countries you have rights for are included in the list:
Once you are finished adding all your countries, please click Save.
You are then able to continue choosing your stores by selecting "Deliver Here" next to each store you wish to distribute. Your music will be delivered to every store you select, but will only go live in the designated territories.
Important: Territory restrictions are final and cannot be reversed. You cannot have different territory restrictions for different stores.
If you'd like to set up territory restrictions for your content after it's been distributed, please contact us here. Make sure you're contacting us from the registered email for your TuneCore account and include the UPCs of the releases you wish to set up restrictions for and what territory restrictions you'd like to apply so we can assist you.
