Starting with the July 2023 YouTube Content ID posting, Content ID sales will no longer be posted in a separate report. Instead, YouTube Content ID revenue will be combined with YouTube Music revenue on both your Sales Reports page and your downloadable sales reports. You can download your historical YouTube Content ID reports, but new ones will not be generated.
Why are these changes being made?
We’re upgrading our system so we can streamline our sales postings and make loading your sales reports (and our whole website) a smoother experience!
What will my Content ID revenue look like on my Sales Report page?
Content ID and YouTube Music sales will be combined under the “YouTube” store name and filter. This means:
- Monetizable views will now be included in the “Streams” column
- Content ID revenue will now be included in the “Total” column
- “Releases Sold” and “Songs Sold” will not include Content ID information
How can I tell the difference between YouTube Music and YouTube Content ID on my downloadable sales reports?
- Video ID, Commission Rate, and Policy Type columns will be added to your downloadable sales reports to show extra data included in Content ID reports!
-Information in these columns indicates Content ID revenue.
-For all other stores, these columns will be left blank. - Fields that do not apply to Content ID earnings (Optional UPC, Optional ISRC, etc.) will be left blank
Why does it seem like I have fewer YouTube views in my sales report?
Sales reports will no longer include any YouTube records that did not generate revenue. If you notice a drop in your reported views, it's most likely because of this update! Keeping in mind that sales fluctuate with each posting, if your views look lower but your earnings stayed roughly the same from the last posting to the current one, there's nothing to worry about!
If you still believe there is an issue, please contact us with proof of the inconsistency and the corresponding TuneCore data for that particular release and time period and our team can begin investigating.
