How do I create a new release?

Uploading Your Release

Once you’ve created and verified your account, you can begin uploading releases by clicking 'Add Release' in your Dashboard and selecting the release type you want (Album or Single). The uploading process is broken down into four parts: Release Details, Stores & Social Platforms, Tracks, and Artwork. Once you complete all four sections, you'll be able to send your release for review and distribution!

Release Details

  1. Add your Release Title, Main Artist (and their Spotify/Apple artist profile links), Language, Genre(s), and Release Date/Time.
  2. OPTIONAL: Add advanced features like Label Name, Recording location, Territory Restrictions, or an existing UPC/EAN. Please note that adding one of these fields may require an upgrade to your Unlimited Plan.
  3. Click 'Save'.
  4. Move on to the Stores & Social Platforms section!

Stores & Social Platforms

  1. Add your desired stores and social platforms by using the 'Edit' button with the pencil icon in both the Stores AND Social Platforms sections!
  2. You can choose to 'Deliver to all current digital stores' or select stores individually by clicking the checkbox for a specific store.
  3. Click 'Save'. The icons for your selected stores will be shown in this section (pictured below).
  4. Move on to the Tracks section!

Tracks

The Tracks section will look a little different depending on the release type you chose (Single or Album)!

Single Track

  1. Click 'Add Track' at the top right corner of the Tracks section. 
  2. In the Songwriters section, add at least one Songwriter.
  3. In the Artists & Contributors section, Artist 1 will be the Main Artist you specified in the Release Details section. You can add any other contributor roles you may need for Artist 1, as shown in the screenshot below. Please Note: You must credit at least one Performer and one Producer/Engineer!
  4. If you need to add another Artist/Contributor, click 'Add Another Artist' at the bottom of this section (as shown in the screenshot below). You'll be able to add their artist name and all of their contributor roles in the same section!
  5. Fill out the Release History, Copyright Ownership, and Lyrics sections. You can also select a TikTok Start Time if desired.
  6. Click 'Save'.
  7. After you save the metadata, upload your audio file! Please note: If you want to add a Dolby Atmos file, you must upload your stereo file first.
  8. Click 'Save & Continue'.
  9. Move on to the Artwork section!

Album Tracks

  1. Click 'Add Track' in the top-right corner of the Tracks section to start your album tracklist.

  2. Click 'Add New Track' as many times as you need, for as many tracks as are on your album. (Pro Tip: You can reorder tracks by clicking and dragging the 6 dots to the right of your screen!)

  3. To add details to a track, click 'Track Info'. 
  4. Add your Track Title and at least one Songwriter.
  5. In the Artists & Contributors section, Artist 1 will be the Main Artist you specified in the Release Details section. You can add any other contributor roles you may need for Artist 1, as shown in the screenshot below. Please Note: You must credit at least one Performer and one Producer/Engineer!
  6. If you need to add another Artist/Contributor, click 'Add Another Artist' at the bottom of this section (as shown in the screenshot below). You'll be able to add their artist name and all of their contributor roles in the same section!
  7. Fill out the Release History, Copyright Ownership, and Lyrics sections. You can also select a TikTok Start Time if desired.
  8. Click 'Save'.
  9. After you save the metadata, click 'Upload' on a track to upload your stereo audio file! Please note: If you want to add a Dolby Atmos file, you must upload your stereo file first.
  10. Once you've finished uploading your tracks, click 'Save & Continue'.
  11. Move on to the Artwork section!

Artwork

  1. Click 'Add Artwork' in the Artwork section.
  2. You can either upload your own cover artwork or use our Cover Art Creator. Make sure your artwork meets our guidelines!
  3. Click 'Save & Continue'.
  4. Move on to the final steps!

Final Steps

  1. Once you’ve completed all of the required information, the progress tracker in the top-right corner will say 4/4 with a bright green circle (as shown in the screenshot below).

  2. Click 'Continue to Review' to add your release to your cart and check out! 
  3. To complete checkout and send your release for distribution, the next steps will vary based on whether you're using an unlimited plan or paying for individual releases.

Unlimited Plans

  1. Review your cart, then click 'Release Music'. You're all set!
  2. If you see an 'Upgrade Plan' button instead, it probably means you've used a custom feature that's not available for your plan level. You can see more about these features at the bottom of this article.

Pay Per Release

  1. When you click 'Continue to Review', select your renewal plan (1 year, 2 years, or 5 years) and click Add to Cart (or Distribute with Credit, if you are using a distribution credit).
  2. If your release looks correct in the shopping cart, click 'Proceed to Checkout'.
  3. Add your desired payment method, billing information, review your order summary, then click 'Pay Now'!
