iTunes Radio is a non-interactive streaming radio service iTunes launched in early September 2013.
iTunes Radio offers Featured Stations and over 200 genre based stations for listeners.
Listeners also have the ability to create their own customized stations based on particular artists, songs, genres, and more. Your personalized stations will adapt based on the music you play and download, and you will be be able to rate the music that's currently playing to have the station continuously learn your music preferences.
When your music is in the iTunes store, it will automatically become available for iTunes Radio.
Not only will you be able to reach more iTunes users, but all your revenue from iTunes Radio streams will go directly into your TuneCore account.
Where is iTunes Radio available?
iTunes Radio is only available in the United States and on the following devices: iPhone, iPad, iPod touch, Mac, PC, and Apple TV.
How much do TuneCore artists get paid when their recordings are played via iTunes Radio?
When your music is played/streamed on iTunes Radio, you get paid the sum of a per play fee and a proportionate share of iTunes' net advertising revenue per month calculated on terms set out in TuneCore's blanket agreement with the store. Payments may fluctuate each month, depending on the amount of advertising revenue generated and how often your music was streamed.
Listeners are able to click the "Buy" button on a track they're listening to download instantly from iTunes. Or a listener can add a song to his or her Wish List and come back later to purchase the song through the History page.
iTunes Radio will be ad-free for
iTunes Match
subscribers.
