How MixRadio Sells Your Music
Does MixRadio sell your music via?:
Releases are eligible to be included in the mixes that MixRadio creates and offers. For example, MixRadio has a mix for a genre like “Reggae” in which Tunecore tracks (full songs) are eligible to be featured.
However, if a customer specifically searches for a track or album from Tunecore or any other label, then MixRadio will play a 30 second clip of that track(s) of that product.
MixRadio is a collection of pre-curated playlists/mixes of full songs. All Tunecore and other record label music form part of these curated mixes and that’s where you will find the full songs. Just like a radio station, MixRadio is not an app that enables you to stream tracks individually. They form part of a curated mix/playlist.
Pay Rate (How Much MixRadio Pays You)
Downloads are available through MixRadio. Payouts are based on territory specific rates, so for songs downloaded individually you will be paid the wholesale price of MixRadio's retail price calculated on terms set out in TuneCore's blanket agreement with the store.
Paid Streams : When a subscriber hears your music, you get paid a proportionate share of MixRadio's subscription revenue per month calculated on terms set out in TuneCore's blanket agreement with the store (this usually excludes streams during a subscriber's free trial). Payments will fluctuate each month, depending on the amount of subscription revenue generated and how often your music was streamed.
Some countries have special rules, so that even before taxes, tariffs, exchange rates or treaties kick in, some money is deducted by the store to pay fees and royalties dictated by local copyright laws. So from the amount you receive for sales of your music in that country, some amount will be deducted to pay the copyright holders under the local copyright laws. Even if the copyright holder is you, some laws require certain royalties to be paid out in that country. However, no matter what, you will get paid the pay rate, after taxes, exchange rate adjustments, etc.
GOOD TO KNOW: We've built our TuneCore Publishing Administration to get songwriters (the person or entity that controls the copyright to the lyrics and melody of the song) all their royalties from sales and use of their songs around the world. To learn more about the additional separate royalties you earn as a Songwriter, see our Publishing Administration Help section.
