accept compositions that you did not create under our Publishing Administration agreement because the original copyright is owned and/or controlled by another songwriter & publisher.
You can only submit original compositions , which are compositions that contain music & lyrics composed by you, the songwriter.
Example of what CAN be submitted:
In 1984 Van Halen recorded “Panama”, which is their original composition. The master sound recording was distributed through Warner Bros Records. Therefore, they CAN submit this for Publishing Administration because the composition is their original composition. ***Unless they are signed to a previous publishing deal***
Example of what
In 1982 Van Halen covered “Oh Pretty Woman” (the master sound recording was distributed through Warner Bros Records), they CANNOT claim publishing royalties as the song is NOT their original composition. The composition was created by Roy Orbison and Bill Dees and is controlled by their publisher.
