The following information is regarding TuneCore's Publishing Administration service
TuneCore, the digital distribution service, collects money earned from download purchases or certain types of streams that occurred in the online retail stores/subscription services that TuneCore distributes to. This money is only deposited into the one TuneCore account that distributed the music.
The TuneCore Publishing Administration collects the portion of money owed to the songwriter every time their song is sold, streamed or played anywhere in the world. This money is deposited into each songwriter's TuneCore account according to their songwriter split.
Distribution and songwriter earnings are completely different copyrights and therefore 2 revenue collections that are accounted to separately in most cases, so the songwriter royalty portion needs to be registered separately.
