If you ARE a US Citizen/Resident:
- You will need to submit a W9, which can be accessed here
- Click 'Please complete your tax info (required before you can get paid). '
- If you are filing as an INDIVIDUAL/SOLE PROPRIETORSHIP, you should enter your SSN (Social Security Number) as XXX-XX-XXXX.
- If you are filing as a BUSINESS (LLC, Corporation, Trust, etc.) you should enter your EIN (Employer Identification Number) as XX-XXXXXXX.
If you are NOT a US Citizen/Resident:
- You will need to submit a W-8BEN, which can be accessed here.
- Click 'Please complete your tax info (required before you can get paid). '
- Click 'No' when asked if you are a U.S. citizen or resident.
- You'll be brought to the W-8BEN form, which you need to complete.
When filling out the W-8BEN, you will be asked for a U.S. Taxpayer Identification Number (ITIN). While this is not required, you will need to supply this number if you wish to claim “treaty benefits”. Treaty Benefits entitle you to a zero or reduced rate of withholding on U.S. sourced income if you are a resident of a treaty country (https://www.irs.gov/businesses/international-businesses/united-states-income-tax-treaties-a-to-z).
If you are not a member of a treaty country, or if you are a member but have not supplied an ITIN on your W-8BEN and claimed treaty benefits, we will be required to withhold 30% on U.S.-sourced income.
If you would like to obtain a U.S. ITIN (and your country is a treaty country), you can do so by filling out and submitting a form W-7 to the IRS. You can Access and download your W-7 form here
