A trend report shows you the unofficial daily sales activity that occurred for your music on iTunes, Amazon Music, and Spotify. Trend reports are updated every day to reflect sales that occurred 1-2 days prior.
How to view/use your trend reports:
The top section indicates the exact release(s) you're viewing. "All Releases" indicates you are looking at trend information for all releases in your TuneCore account. If you are looking at a specific album, single, or ringtone, this will show as Trends > All Releases > Album Title. If your'e looking at a specific song off of an album, it will display as Trends > All Releases > Album Title > Song Title.
You can customize the date range to change the period of sales you are viewing. At this time you can set the "Show Me" view to 1 week, 2 weeks, 1 month, 2 months, or 3 months.
The total sales chart reflects all sales for the specific date range you've set. You can toggle between releases sold, songs sold, and ringtones sold.
In the reports section, you can view specific details on your top releases, your top songs, the top US Markets (broken up by city) and the top countries. For more information on a specific album or song, you can click on the linked title and that information will reflect on your total sales chart.
In the download section, you can click to download a .csv spreadsheet which you can open in a spreadsheet program like Excel or Google Drive. The report will be a more detailed look at the specific date range and report request you set above.
The Trend Report you download has many columns. Here are the column headers and their meanings, left to right:
- Date: The album, EP, single or individual song was purchased on this day (Pacific time)
- City*: The person who bought your music has an iTunes account with a billing address in this city (see note below)
- State*: The person who bought your music has an iTunes account with a billing address in this state (see note below).
- Country Code: The person who bought your music has an iTunes account with a billing address in this country (see note below)
- Zip: The person who bought your music has an iTunes account with a billing address in this zip or postal code (see note below)
- Units: This many songs or albums sold on this day in this zip code (see note below)
- Album: This is name of your album that sold (albums over 10 songs sold in their entirety only); if a song sold, this column is "N/A"
- Song: This is the name of the song that sold; if an album sold, this column is "N/A"
- Artist: This is the name of the band or artist that sold
- Label: This is the name of the label of the song or album that sold
*You may not see any zip code, postal code or location information: this is because iTunes did not include it in their reports. TuneCore can only report what iTunes sends us. Unfortunately, there's nothing TuneCore can do about this. Also, non-U.S. postal codes won't show city or state: these columns will be "N/A." The country code itself is a 2-character international code.
IMPORTANT!
This is sales TRENDING data, not an actual sales report. iTunes does not pay out any money for the information you are seeing on the Trend Report until two months after the sale occurred, which shows in your Monthly Sales Reports (under the 'Money' tab in your account).
If you've had no sales activity for a particular day, week or month in iTunes, you will not receive trending data for that date range.
